The devastated parents of a teenager killed at a petrol station have told how their daughter dreamed of becoming a nurse.
Eilish Herron, 17, died after being run over as she filled up her car, the Daily Record reports.
It’s understood she was trapped under an 81-year-old driver’s vehicle. Police are investigating if he put the automatic in reverse by mistake at Asda Linwood, near Paisley, on Wednesday afternoon.
Yesterday, her parents John and Shanneal told how their daughter – a star netball player and promising healthcare student – would be deeply missed by them and younger brother and sister, Niall, 15, and Neave, 12.

Heartbroken Shanneal, 46, an IT trainer with the NHS, said: “Eilish was such a lovely girl, she was always so caring and never gave us a moment’s trouble her whole life.
“She loved netball and was really good at it, winning Player of the Year in her first season playing with Paisley’s adult side and coaching the under 11s. But what she really wanted was to become a nurse.”
She added: “Eilish would have been 18 next month and we’ve been planning for her birthday. We wanted to do something special for her. We have such a large family and we are completely devastated.”
Recruitment firm director John, 44, added: “Eilish had been out with her gran for lunch and decided to fill up her tank before going to pick up her brother and sister. It was a freak accident.
“Eilish adored her family and we all adored her. She will be sorely missed by us all.”
Last night, Paisley Juniors Netball Club paid tribute to Eilish.
A spokeswoman said: “We are completely devastated and in total shock. We cannot believe we have lost a treasured friend, player and coach. Eilish was one of the warmest, kindest and most loving people you could ever meet.
“There will be a huge void in our club and in our lives.”
Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident and say a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
