Rio Ferdinand has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to David Moyes' Manchester United reign... about the lack of fries!
The former Red Devils defender has launched a scathing attack on the ex-Old Trafford manager on nearly every aspect of his tenure.
And that includes the canteen where Moyes banned his Man United players from eating chips, and that was the last straw for Rio.
"We loved our chips, but Moyes comes in and, after his first week, he says we can’t have chips any more," he reveals in his book #2Sides - serialised in the Sun..
Ferdinand claims the chips were low-fat and a staple part of life under Sir Alex Ferguson but that Moyes scrapped them as soon as he was made manager.
Unfortunately the chips were soon down for Moyes who was sacked after a poor run of form which left the side well out of the hunt for a Champions League place.
MORE: Moyes' tactics were "embarrassing" says Ferdinand
Old Trafford stalwart Ryan Giggs replace Moyes in April and one of the first things on the agenda was the return of chips, Ferdinand says.
"Moyes has been gone about 20 minutes, we’re on the bikes warming up for the first training session without him and one of the lads says: “You know what? We’ve got to get onto Giggsy. We’ve got to get him to get us our f***ing chips back.”
Moyes was sacked just eight months after taking over from Ferguson and made too many changes in a short space of time, argues Ferdinand.
The 35-year-old was marginalised by Moyes at Old Trafford and eventually moved onto QPR this summer, and claims it wasn't just chips that should have been kept around.
Ferdinand thinks the decision to get rid of first team coach Mike Phelan was just as disastrous.
"It meant he missed a lot of the subtleties about players and the culture of United," Ferdinand added.
