A teenage girl was put into a car and raped during a terrifying late-night attack.
The 15-year-old was waiting a bus stop in Wallsend, North Tyneside when she was approached and spoken to by a man.
She was put into the front of his car and driven to a street around Hotspur Road, where she was raped the Chronicle reports.
The girl managed to get out of the car and away from the man but has been left traumatised by the ordeal, police said. Detectives are now investigating the attack as they hunt for the man.
He is described as white, aged in his late 40s to early 50s, of large build, 5ft 3ins tall, with a grey hair shaved short. He spoke with a local accent.
The incident happened between 10.55pm on Friday, April 25 and 11.30pm on Saturday, April 26, but was only reported to officers on Tuesday.
Detective sergeant Rob Ridley, from Northumbria Police, said: “This was an extremely serious offence and detectives are doing all they can to apprehend the man responsible.
