Alichie Iheukwumere completed a hat trick to return MTN Nigeria to winning ways on a day Airtel’s winning streak was halted by LM Ericsson in what turned out a repeat of last season’s fixture between all the teams.
Before Match Day 3, Wale Bakare was the only player on the hat trick list in Airtel’s 4-0 defeat of Alcatel Lucent but Alichie waited only 11 minutes to hit the net in the first fixture between MTN and Alcatel. Kunle Kunyinu doubled the lead on 27th minute while four minutes later, Alichie got his brace. Alichie completed the hat trick on 53rd minute to repeat last year’s score line. The MTN hit man is now poised to claim the golden boot he won last season.
“It is only pleasing that we have won this game, it is not about the hat trick which I also appreciate. I only look forward to the team doing well and getting to where we are known for in this competition,” Alichie said
