UN: In Rehabiliting some Chibok Girls

The United Nations has announced that it is rehabilitating some of the Chibok school girls abducted by Boko Haram in April, who later escaped.

According to the statement on the website, the United Nations Population Fund in collaboration with the World Health Organisation as well as the United Nations Children’s Fund, will set up clinics and provide health screening for any of the girls coming back.

The Federal Government yesterday August 21st started paying the allowance of scholarship students in Russia three days after it was reported that the 322 Nigerian students currently on Bilateral Educational Agreement scholarship in Russia hadn't been paid for about 8 months.

One of the students, Moyosore Ojuri, a Metallurgical Engineering student who spoke with Punch said herself and her colleagues have started receiving credit alerts of $4,450 in their respective bank accounts. She said $4000 is for her January to August allowance; $200 for annual medicals & health insurance, and $250 covers her annual protective clothing.Check details

Ebola: Woman dies in Ekiti after she was rejected by hospitals .....

Ekiti State Government has debunked rumours of an outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, in the state .This came as the government lamented the unfortunate death of a woman, who was said to have vomited and collapsed in premises of the State Ministry of Health and was rejected in four different private hospitals because of the text messages circulated by some unidentified people suspected to be in the Healthcare sector that tagged her ebola patient.

A 37-year-old mother of three, Ezeh Ifeoma Maureen (pictured above), has been arrested with substances suspected to be cannabis by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to The Nation, Maureen was caught at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, during outward screening of China-bound Ethiopian Airlines’ passengers for allegedly attempting to smuggle 6.200 kilogrammes of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis.

The agency’s Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, said the suspect told the officers that her bags contained vegetables and foodstuff....

MH17: Plane with Malaysian bodies arrives in Kuala Lumpur

A specially chartered plane took off from Amsterdam and landed around 10:00 local time (02:00 GMT).

National flags will be flying at half-mast across the country and a minute of silence will be observed.

Flight MH17 is believed to have been shot down by a missile fired by pro-Russian rebels. They deny the claim.

All 298 passengers and crew on board the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 died on 17 July.

BBC NEWS: Boko Haram takes over Police Academy in Borno state

Boko Haram men today August 21st reportedly invaded the Liman Kara Police college, a riot police training academy in Gwoza, Borno state and took over the academy.
According to BBC, the sect men arrived the town in armored cars and dozens of motorcycles. Scores of trainees at the academy have been reported killed while many managed to escape to nearby mountains for safety. More details later

Health Official claims: Herbalist caused Ebola Outbreak in Sierra Leonean..

According to a top medical officer in Sierra Leone Mohamed Vandi, a woman who claimed she had powers to help heal people infected with Ebola triggered the major outbreak.

The official tells AFP that the outbreak spread from Guinea because of a herbalist in the remote eastern border village of Sokoma, Eastern Sierra Leone.
