An American health worker who treated the first American Ebola patient contracts the EVD.


An American health worker in Texas, who provided care for the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the country has tested positive for the virus in a preliminary examination, an health official said on Sunday. The most recent Ebola victim reported a low-grade fever on Friday night at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and was isolated and referred for testing, the Texas Department of State Health Services said. In a statement, the TDSHS said “We knew a second case could be a reality, and we’ve been preparing for this possibility,” said Dr. David Lakey, commissioner of the health service.

The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, have announced the kidnap of its immediate past president, Okey Wali. According to a statement released last night, Mr Wali was kidnapped in Port Harcourt yesterday Saturday October 11th around 9pm by unknown persons.

Actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde took to her instagram page to celebrate her 16yr old music producer son, CaptainE who came third place at the international music conference producer showcase competition which held in Atlanta, Georgia, last month. Marburg: After Ebola Another deadly hemorrhagic disease flying around

 
With West Africa, and indeed the rest of the world, still reeling from the deaths brought about by the Ebola virus, the recent death of a Ugandan hospital technician of another deadly viral disease, Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever (MHF), has brought fresh fears.
Uganda’s Ministry of Health disclosed that a total of 99 people who had been in contact with the victim had been moved to quarantine. These contacts are being monitored for signs and symptoms of the disease after tests confirmed that the 30-year-old man who worked as a radiographer in a Kampala hospital died of the disease. The man was said to have had a headache, abdominal pains, diarrhoea and vomited blood before he died.

First Consultant Hospital indicts Liberian Ambassador for putting hospital under pressure

 
First Consultants Medical Centre, the Lagos hospital where the man who brought Ebola to Nigeria, late Liberian Patrick Sawyer died, has indicted the Liberian Ambassador to Nigeria (pictured right) for his involvement in the case, saying he put the hospital under pressure to release Sawyer against the wish of its management, Vanguard reports.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Benjamin Ohiaeri, said:

"The ambassador said if we continued to keep him (Sawyer), it would be tantamount to kidnap and abuse of human right. He said if we did not release him, we would be subjecting our hospital to international diplomatic row and we should not rule out the possibility of law suit.”

In one of the pics which can be easily found on Twitter, the actress is shown sitting naked on a toilet using her phone. Other photos show close up shots of her pierced nipples and under boob tattoos. I've seen the pics but I can't share...

Actress Angelina Jolie met with Queen Elizabeth this afternoon at Buckingham Palace to be officially awarded her honorary damehood.

According to the UK Daily Mail, Angelina Jolie was made an honorary dame today in recognition of her campaigning against sexual violence. She was presented with the Insignia of an Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George at a reception at Buckingham Palace. She was accompanied to the Palace by her husband Brad Pitt and all six children but they didn't take photos with the queen.More pic below...

Another woman has come forward, saying she was also threatened by Drake after posting something to Instagram.
In relation to Drake, Shaye G is most known for being the woman he rebounded with after he and Rihanna broke things off. Paparazzi caught the the two on several occasions in Toronto, a stunt Drake was rumored to have set up on purpose. After months of 'dating', things went left when Shaye G posted a photo to Instagram amidst the Lira Galore drama. Shaye G posted a photo of three Chanel bags captioned "Like this if you have one of these too" and that is when she says things with Drake went downhill.

How man raped teenager and sexually assaulted her friend


A chef raped a teenager and sexually assaulted her friend at a Thai restaurant after spiking their drinks.
Dermar Pahi Asnawi, 20, was convicted of raping the 18-year-old girl and sexually touching another woman after closing time at the eaterie.
The teenager was also allegedly raped by restaurant manager Samuel Gale, 18, but he died before he could stand trial.

(NYSC) Youth corps member assaulted by a female police officer in Lagos


A female corps members recently had a not very pleasant encounter with a female police officer in Lagos.

“On the 8th of October 2014 I got assaulted by a Policewoman. This is what happened.
On my way home from Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Lagos State, Nigeria with a friend Maduka Benson after my NYSC clearance our vehicle (Honda accord) entered a hole which pulled part of the car bumper. The policewoman standing in front controlling the traffic kept shouting at us. And so Maduka who was driving, tried to explain to her that the car bumper was stuck, but she insisted that we should get out of the way. A man told my friend not to move, warning that if he did, the entire bumper would be ripped from the car. He then crossed over to our side of the road, and helped us fix the bumper so we could move on...More below

Hotel Sealed after British Man with Ebola Symptoms Dies


A British man with Ebola-like symptoms has died in Macedonia and the hotel where he was staying has been sealed off and those thought to have had contact with him put under quarantine.

Reuters reports that a Health Ministry official said the man had arrived from Britain on Oct. 2 and had been rushed to hospital at 3 p.m. on Thursday, where he died several hours later. Dr. Jovanka Kostovska of the ministry's commission for infectious diseases said the man had been suffering from
fever, vomiting and internal bleeding, and that his condition had deteriorated rapidly.

Jos Archbishop Tells FG: Let the Gays be

 
The Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Ignatius Kaigama has said Nigerian government is “wrong” for “punishing” gay Nigerians.
Speaking at a press briefing with The Tablet at the Vatican yesterday, the Archbishop stressed that the Catholic Church in Nigeria is opposed to any discrimination of gay people.

According to him, after Nigeria adopted a law that hands out 14-year sentences to gay Nigerians earlier this year, he had announced the Church’s support for the legislation. However, there was a 'gross misinterpretation” of this by the media.

Man arrested by Police in Lagos for killing his wife


A Man has been arrested by the Nigerian police over the murder of a middle-aged woman, identified as Silifat Yakubu.She was allegedly killed by her husband, Ismail Yakubu, at Igbele, near Araromi Ale Olorunda Local Council Development Area, along Badagry Expressway in Lagos.

It was gathered that the mutilated body of the deceased was found in a small river located at the community’s entrance, where she was supposedly dumped after she was murdered.
Vanguard gathered that, some of the victim’s body parts, such as her eyes, breasts and uterus, were allegedly missing when her corpse was found by passersby, suggesting that she must have been murdered for ritual purposes.

Lagos Court dissolves 20-year-old marriage over `sex starvation


An Igando Customary Court in Lagos, on Thursday dissolved the 20-year-old marriage between Mr Adetoro Onipede and his wife, Olubunmi because she starved him of sex.
President of the court R.I Adeyeri, said that “all efforts to reconcile the couple had proved futile as the petitioner insisted on divorce.
“Both parties are no longer husband and wife, they are free to go their separate ways,” Adeyeri ruled.
Onipede, 50, had filed a suit on Aug. 21, seeking for the dissolution of his 20-year-old marriage on the ground of sex starvation by his wife.
Onipede said that his wife, Olubunmi, had been denying him sex after she gave birth to their last child 14 years ago.
“She always starves me of sex and will not even allow me to touch her. Anytime I tried to force myself to do it, she will pick up a dangerous weapon to stab me, ” he said.

48 year-old Man arrested on suspicion of killing 13-year-old boy


A man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a 13 year-old boy.
The 48 year-old was detained on suspicion of manslaughter following the discovery of the teenager's body in Barrow, Cumbria.
Police were called to a property in Ewan Close in the town at 7:19 am this morning, where the boy was found.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect is currently helping police with their enquiries.

I guess Paula Patton is serious about splitting from Robin Thicke because according to court documents, she has officially filed for divorce.
Paula filed for divorce in LA, citing irreconcilable differences. She's also seeking joint custody of the couple's son.

A Dallas County sheriff's deputy has been hospitalized with Ebola symptoms, a week after he went unprotected into the apartment of Thomas Duncan to deliver a quarantine order to family members.
Sgt Michael Monnig went on Wednesday to an urgent-care facility in Frisco, Texas with his wife, after complaining of stomach problems.

Neither Sgt Monnig, nor the other two health officials, Zachary Thompson and Christopher Perkins with him, were wearing protective clothing or masks despite being in the apartment as cleaning crews were going about their work in full protective gear.

Ebola: Bodies of Victims body abandoned after burial teams go on Strike in Sierra Leone

Bodies of Ebola victims are lying abandoned in the streets of Sierra Leone's capital it has emerged, as burial teams strike over a backlog in 'hazard' pay.

The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation reported bodies of those who had died from the virus were being left in homes and on the streets of Freetown. Burial teams took strike action, complaining they had not received hazard pay for a week.

The dead bodies of Ebola victims are highly contagious, raising fears more people were at risk of contracting the virus. Although officials today said the issue had been 'resolved', organisers of the strike action could not be reached to confirm it was over. It was not clear if the backlog of bodies had been cleared and whether there still remains a threat to the public.

Nigerian government threatened SA to retaliation over Frozen $5.7m arms Money


According to reports, Nigeria has accused South Africa today of blocking a legal arms purchase and threatened retaliation against major South African companies, including telecom giant MTN, if the spat is not resolved.

A top official in the office of Nigeria’s National Security Advisor (NSA) told AFP that the country had an agreement to buy $5.7 million worth of military hardware in a deal brokered by a South African firm, but the funds were seized and the hardware not delivered.
