Davido among the nominees for Soul Train Awards 2014

 
Davido is certainly getting more acknowledgements on a global platform.

The music star has been announced as one of the nominees for this year’s Soul Train Awards, making him the only African act to grace the list this year.

Nominated for his hit single ‘Aye’, released earlier in the year, Davido is up against Machel Montano, Nico & Vinz, Sam Smith, Shaggy and Ziggy Marley for the ‘Best International Performance’ category.

This year’s Soul Train Music Awards will take place on Sunday, November 30, and will be hosted by TV personality, Wendy Williams.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg donates $25million to fight Ebola

 The 13th richest person in the world, Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook founder  announced on his Facebook page that he's donating $25 million to the Centers for Disease Control Foundation to help fight Ebola.On a statement  which he released.

It has infected 8,400 people so far, but it is spreading very quickly and projections suggest it could infect 1 million people or more over the next several months if not addressed.

Nollywood actor Clems Onyeka killed by robbers

Popular Nollywood actor Clems Onyeka has died. He was gunned down by a stray bullet in Asaba this afternoon October 14th. According to eye-witnesses, robbers who robbed a bank along Summit Express, were exchanging gun fire with police when Clems got hit by a stray bullet. He was just 37 years old. A United Nations medical worker who was infected with Ebola in Liberia has died despite “intensive medical procedures”. former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has paid the stipulated N27.5m to pick the presidential nomination form of the All Progressives Congress on Monday.
Atiku picked the form after a short ceremony at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
Speaking during the event, Atiku enjoined the party leaders to ensure a level-playing field for all aspirants before and during the primaries.
The former vice president was the first to formally declare his intention to contest the Presidential ticket under the platform of the APC. Also, he happened to be the first to pick the nomination ticket, while others are yet to declare.

Chibok Girls Escaped Boko Haram camp

Four kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls have allegedly escaped a camp run by the militant islamist sect Boko
According to TheTimesUK, the four, all aged between 16 and 18, had been told that if they criticised Boko Haram, their families would be killed. They were helped to escape by a teenage boy, also a
prisoner, who managed to get them out of the camp, according to Stephen Davis, a British-Australian negotiator who had tried to bargain with the extremist Islamic group for the schoolgirls’ freedom.
The girls, guided by the setting sun, walked west for three weeks, finally arriving in a Nigerian village, starving and traumatised.

According to Aye Dee, real name Mukhtar Alexander Dan'Iyan, Tinubu and his wife were once drug barons in the US. That as much fun as we make of Buruji Kashamu for being wanted in the USA for heroin distribution, Bola Tinubu and his wife, Remi, were also involved in the distribution of the drug in the late 80s, early 90s. But that their career in the drug trade was cut short when they were apprehended by the US government. Aye Dee even went on to say that Tinubu isn't even the APC leader's real name. Local man Jun Feng, 30, who helped the woman after spotting her lying on the ground after her attackers left told local TV:

'This type of thing is becoming quite normal. Angry wives and girlfriends get their revenge on their cheating men by attacking the other woman. People don't tend to get involved because they see it as being an argument of the heart,' he said.

The woman was later taken to hospital where she was being treated for cuts, severe bruising and shock after begging someone to call an ambulance. More pic below

Ebola: 850 soldiers to be quarantined for 28 days

A report which state that 850 Nigerian soldiers on peacekeeping mission in Liberia are to be quarantined for 28 days when they return to the country in March 2015.
A source  told Punchng  that the Army personnel were scheduled to return to the country in January but that their arrival would be delayed till March 2015. He said

A woman was horrified to discover a huge python slithering around in her bathtub.

Natasha Evans, 17, found the reptile at her home in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, her mother, Trudi, 45, was at work when she received a terrified phonecall.
"Of course I didn't believe her," she said. "Or I thought if anything it was a little grass snake or a worm."
It turned out the deadly snake had been on the loose since July after it escaped from a neighbour's collection.
"She sounded really scared so I thought I had no choice but to leave work and go home.
"I think my boss thought I'd made up some kind of ridiculous lie to get out of work.
"When I got there, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. There was a huge snake as long as my arm in the bath.

Ex Bayelsa State Governor DSP Alamieyeseigha's son killed in Dubai

One of the sons of former Bayelsa State governor DSP Alamieyeseigha (DSP), was killed in Dubai on Saturday October 11th. According to unconfirmed reports, Omo Alamieyeseigha was found dead either in a hotel room or his father's house on Saturday afternoon (details are still sketchy).

How and why he was killed has not been made public. His father left for Dubai yesterday to go deal with the sad incident.

Three teenagers lost their life in Thunder strike

Three teenagers lost their lives yesterday, at Ijale Ijaka Street in Ijoun, Ayetoro area of Ogun state when thunder struck them.

The tragic incident, which occurred during a heavy rainfall killed Sunday Mulero,13, Dare Olaifa,15 and Sodiq Segun, 15.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi revealed that the young boys were “playing “outside their house when the thunder struck and killed them instantly.

Woman who transformed to a bird while flying dies in hospital

The woman who eyewitnesses claim fell from tension wire while flying as a bird and turned into this woman pictured above at Cappa B-stop, Oshodi on Friday Oct. 10th (read here), has died in hospital.

An American health worker who treated the first American Ebola patient contracts the EVD.

An American health worker in Texas, who provided care for the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the country has tested positive for the virus in a preliminary examination, an health official said on Sunday. The most recent Ebola victim reported a low-grade fever on Friday night at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and was isolated and referred for testing, the Texas Department of State Health Services said. In a statement, the TDSHS said “We knew a second case could be a reality, and we’ve been preparing for this possibility,” said Dr. David Lakey, commissioner of the health service.
